From a Prisoner in California: Don’t forget about us.

Note: This is an inmate from a prison in California commenting on the recent ban at Pelican Bay State Prison.

Revolution News,

I just read about the ban of your paper at Pelican Bay. From experience, I know that to mean the rest of California’s prisons are soon likely to follow. I applaud your efforts to fight the ban. For the two years I’ve been receiving your publication I’ve been sharing them with as many prisoners as possible. Though there are some who actually support the regime that enslaves them, most are for the first time able to open their eyes. They are able to see that for this system to survive it needs many to fail and to accept their position as a wage slave.

I recognize that our struggle is a class struggle, not a racial one. In fact, it promotes our racial unity in a common cause. You have many believers here who are looking to learn what more they can do. It’s too bad this paper—this eye-opening way of thinking—cannot reach our youth before they end up in prison. Many of those who channel their anger at the system or their hopelessness into violence and gangs may likely be able to turn their energies to something more positive.

While the ban against Revolution is being fought you will have our support. Don’t forget about us. Even though all of California’s prisons may soon be deprived of your paper we are with all of our comrades in spirit.

A faithful reader,

Send us your comments.
